The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) has long made solar more affordable for households and small systems — but commercial installations were capped at 100kW, well below what most warehouses, factories, and larger commercial sites actually need. From 1 October 2026, that cap rises to 1MW, opening the scheme's upfront discount to a whole tier of business that's never had access to it before.
What the SRES expansion means for your business
Change subject to final regulations being confirmed by the Clean Energy Regulator.
If your site has ever been quoted for solar close to or above the old 100kW cap, this changes the numbers significantly. We handle the entire STC process as part of your installation — no separate paperwork, no chasing certificates — so the discount is simply reflected in your final price.
